APPROVED!

On July 22, 2024, the Newark Central Planning Board unanimously approved an application for a new 20-unit mixed-use development on Elizabeth Avenue in Newark’s South Ward. The application was submitted by S.A.T. Urban Renewal, a local developer with deep roots in the area. This project, set to rise at 142-144 Elizabeth Avenue, will transform a long-vacant lot that S.A.T. acquired from the City of Newark.

The approved plans detail a five-story building that will feature 20 residential units along with four retail units at street level, aiming to enhance the neighborhood's residential and commercial appeal. The building's design is the work of CREARC, a Newark-based architectural firm known for its commitment to community-focused projects.

This development marks another significant step in the ongoing revitalization of Newark’s South Ward, promising to bring new housing and business opportunities to the area.
